I decided to start Fish the Hub in the summer of 2012. After a long winter of being locked inside my apartment I was looking for an activity that would allow me to enjoy the beautiful outdoor spaces that sets Boston apart from other cities. Fishing is something that I have done all my life. I grew up in Maine so I never had a problem finding places to fish. When I came to Boston in 2003 I was resigned to taking the occasional trip back up north for the weekend to go out on a friends boat or hitting the coast when the stripers were running. At this point fishing became a less and less important part of my life. As the years past I found many things to fill my time with. My hobbies came and went but fishing was the one thing that I never lost the desire for.
Until recentely I was unaware of all of the fishing opportunities Boston has to offer. The diversity of locations and envionments provides something for every type of fisherman. Whether you are a beginner or you have been fishing for 40 years, whether you enjoy fly fishing or deep sea fishing, you will find what you are looking for here.
When I decided I wanted to give fishing in Boston a try I realized there were many things I needed to learn. I didn’t know where to fish, or even if it was legal to fish in the places I had always seen throughout the city. I began doing research and I realized that there was no one place where the information I was looking for was compiled. If I needed information on fresh water fishing I would go to one website, and another for salt water fishing. When I had questions about where to find a bait or tackle shop it could take hours sorting through the search resaults and forums to find a place that was still open. That is when I decieded to start a website to provide all the information that took me so long to find in one place.
